In 2004, a conflict that occurred in Darfur forced villagers to become
refugees in their own country. Since then, the people of Darfur has
battled death each day due to various causes, including diseases and
malnutrition. Since 2009, MERCY Malaysia has been stationed in North
Darfur; providing medical care to the Internally Displaced Persons
(IDPs) in Zam Zam camp. As the influx of IDPs continues, MERCY Malaysia
and partners remain on location to offer health services for these
vulnerable people to prevent further deterioration of the situation.
